We offer the “Stu It Award” yearly to those individuals or families who, facing a right hook from life, exude beauty, manifest grace, demonstrate faith, and spread gratitude. The 2024 award went to the Gill family, Colt, Laura, Isabelle, Patrick, Jonathan, and Gabriel. Isabelle is the sole survivor of twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome. After the death of her twin in utero at around 20 weeks, Isabelle had an intrauterine stroke. On account of the stroke, doctors were convinced that Isabelle would never walk, talk, see, hear, or have any voluntary movements, which has not turned out to be true. She can see, hear, interact, and engage in some movements with help, and she loves to be with her baby brother, Gabriel. Despite Isabelle’s conditions of microcephaly, cerebral palsy, and epilepsy, she stands as a bright light in the lives that she touches, especially that of her family.
